Love is in the air for Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens. The couple are now engaged. Biles shared the announcement on her social media on Tuesday. They got engaged on Valentine’s Day.

“Woke up a fiancée,” Biles, 24, tweeted, along with a few photos with Owens when he popped the question. “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married!”

The 26-year-old popped the question with a large, oval-cut diamond ring.

“Woke up this morning with a fiancee,” he reshared the proposing photos on his Instagram

‘The easiest yes’

The Olympian and Houston Texan safety started dating during the pandemic in March 2020. They met on a dating app called Raya in March 2020 and became official in August 2020. Despite being one of the most famous athletes in the world, Owens did not know who the goat of gymnastics was at first.

“I didn’t know who she was,” Owens said during an interview with Texas Monthly in June 2021. “I just heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.”

When the 2020 Olympics and NFL training camp was postponed due to the pandemic, it opened up the opportunity for the pair to get to know each other and connect further.

“It was one of the times in her life where she was shut off and couldn’t do anything,” Owens told Texas Weekly.

Biles told The Wall Street Journal in a July 2021 feature that Owens just slid in her DM’s.

“I saw him and I was like oh he’s cute, so I said hi,” she recalled to WSJ. Unfortunately, because of the COVID-19 protocols, Owens wasn’t able to accompany Biles in Tokyo, but he offered bis support from afar.

Biles and Owens are equally supportive of each other, as a couple should be. When Biles withdrew from several events at the Tokyo Olympics for the sake of her mental health, Owens supported her every step of the way.

“Imma ride with you through whatever baby,” he wrote in a post on Instagram last July.

And when Owens got his first start for the Texans, Biles shared on her Instagram, “I love watching you live your dream!”

Congratulations to the both of them!
