Miss Kennedy Edwards graced the pageant stage Sunday night [Nov. 25] as the first black woman to be crowned as Miss Texas Teen USA , since the inaugural pageant in 1983.

Edwards is a freshmen at Howard University. She entered the pageant as a 2018 Miss Houston USA.  Her monumental win from this past weekend allows her to  to compete in the 2019 Miss Houston Teen Pageant on April 19-20th, 2019.

“I just feel absolutely amazing, so blessed to be able to represent Houston at Miss Texas Teen USA,”  Edwards told CW39.
