Time can only heal all wounds, but it could stimulate self-growth and awareness.
Casandra Fine, most commonly known as Cassie, is a mental grow, ‘frown turned upside down’, Cinderalla stories we love to hear about. She’s also an example that shows you can look great on the outside but struggling with some serious demons on the inside.
In a recent Instagram post, the newlywed singer and expecting mother reflected on one of those moments. She posted a 2017 picture of herself, looking out of a window in New York City.
“When I look at pictures it brings me back to the exact place and time where I can literally touch the feelings I was feeling, almost experiencing them all over again but with a sense of calm,” she captioned. “It’s a form of therapy for me. Was I happy? Was I eating that day? Did I sleep the night before? What was I stressing at that moment? What front did I have up that day? This photo was of me in NY on May 31st, 2017. I feel sad for the girl in the picture because I know the personal demons she was battling, but I’m so excited for her growth to come.”

Do you ever come across old pictures of yourself and get blown away by how much you’ve evolved? When I look at pictures it brings me back to the exact place and time where I can literally touch the feelings I was feeling, almost experiencing them all over again but with a sense of calm. It’s a form of therapy for me. Was I happy? Was I eating that day? Did I sleep the night before? What was I stressing at that moment? What front did I have up that day? This photo was of me in NY on May 31st, 2017. I feel sad for the girl in the picture because I know the personal demons she was battling, but I’m so excited for her growth to come. It’s bittersweet looking at this photo. This is a shout out to everyone on their journey! I’m still on mine and I hope that me sharing can help others know that there is so much joy in recognizing your growth every step of the way.
It’s no way to figure out what was going on at that specific time in her life, but clearly, there was unhappiness and an inner hurt and struggle that needed to be mended. No doubt, she was in a relationship at the time with her now-ex, Diddy. The two officially split in 2018, after 10 years.
Safe to say, we’re so glad she has found that happiness. Cassie recently married her fiance, Alex Fine in September and the two are expecting a baby girl together. Scroll down Cassie’s Instagram and you will see the glow that only good, healthy love and happiness can give.
As a woman, it’s so easy to wear a mask, especially in pictures. So many of us could be in a dark place, mentally, whether it’s from a bad relationship, heartbreak or inner battles ( depression, anxiety, etc.) Once we acknowledge that problem, it’s so important to take the necessary steps needed to move past it and grow for ourselves.
Cut off that bad energy
Whether it’s a person, habit or job. Toxicity is an emotional drainer, get rid of it. Period. Point.Blank.
Focus energy on the things you have control over
Because things we cannot control are out of our hands. That can be a hard one to swallow, for people who always want to be in charge.
Practice more self-care
Don’t underestimate the value of me time. Travel, take yourself out on a solo date, workout, take a dance class. Over time you’ll find that you are your own best company.
Go to Therapy
No, it doesn’t mean you’re a psycho. No, it’s not just a ‘white thing’ ( that one is for my black and brown people, let’s kill that generational curse) It’s simply a self-acknowledgment that you are aware that you need more than just a rant on the phone and drinks with your friends.
It changes things, it really does. Be specific with your prayers too and brace yourself for the outcome. Our perception is not like His (Thank God) keep a journal, meditate.
