Snap-snap on this following accomplishment!

At the age of 22, poet and activist, Amanda Gorman will become the youngest poet ever to perform at a presidential inauguration ceremony. The National Youth Poet Laureate has been selected to perform at President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ inauguration on Wednesday, Jan. 20.

According to CNN, the theme for the upcoming inauguration is expected to be “a call to national unity.”

Gorman’s inaugural poem will be called “The Hill We Climb”. There is no preview of the poem, but according to the Associated Press, Gorman was encouraged to emphasize hope and unity.

“As I was crafting this piece, it was really trying to communicate a message of joining together and crossing divides,” Gorman told CNN.

The AP reports the Los Angeles native is also expected to indirectly touch on the U.S. Capitol attacks.

“The poem isn’t blind,” she told AP. “It isn’t turning your back to the evidence of discord and division.”

In 2017, the Harvard college graduate made history when she was named the first-ever National Youth Poet Laureate in the United States. Three years prior, she was named the first Youth Poet Laureate of Los Angeles in 2014.

Gorman will join the legacy of famous poets such as Robert Frost, Maya Angelou, Elizabeth Alexander, and Richard Blanco, in reading at the inauguration.  Her future aspirations include reading at the 2028 Olympics and becoming a chief executive at the presidential inauguration in 2037.

“I’m going to tell Biden that I’ll be back!”
