BET’s ‘Baldwin Hills’ Gerren Taylor has died at the age of 30. Taylor was pronounced dead on Sunday, April 11. It was originally reported that she had died in her sleep but the cause of her death is still unknown and has not been revealed yet.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Taylor broke out as an original cast member of BET’s Baldwin Hill from 2007-2009. She appeared on the show for all three seasons and went on to star in other films.
In addition, Taylor had a successful career as a runway model. She walked for Tommy Hilfiger, Jeremy Scott, and many more. According to E!, Taylor was the youngest model to sign with L.A. Model’s runway division at just the age of 12.
Taylor was also a mother to a 7-year-old daughter, who she featured frequently on her Instagram page. She was also an entrepreneur. Her ventures included Hush Dollz Boutique and Miyoko’s Closet. It seems she was also working on opening a dog boutique called Poochie Couture.
BET went on social media to share their love and appreciation for Taylor.
“The entire BET family mourns the passing of one of our own, Ms. Ashley Gerren Taylor, the beloved star of Baldwin Hills. The untimely passing of such a young, bright light is difficult to process. BET’s thoughts and prayers go out to Ashley’s friends and family during this time,” BET wrote in a statement to Taylor’s family.
Ray Cunningham, also known as Misster Ray from VH1’s Love and Hip-Hop, was a dear friend of Taylor. He mourned her loss on Twitter.
“I hate it’s on the internet already,” he tweeted. Later, Cunningham shared a video with Taylor on his Instagram. Her very last Instagram post on March 28 read, “I’m very protective over the woman I’m becoming.”
Funeral arrangements for Taylor have not been revealed yet.
