Congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle! And welcome, Lilibet!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are officially parents to a beautiful baby girl. Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA, according to the official announcement posted on their website, Archewell.com. She weighed 7lbs. and 11 oz.

“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili,” Harry and Meghan shared in an announcement on their website.  “She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

The statement added that both Meghan and Lili are “are healthy and well, and settling in at home.”

Named after 2 Royal Women

Lilibet is named after her great-grandmother, whose family name is Lilibet, and her grandmother, Princess Diana. Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland also has an influence on her name. Growing up, Meghan said she had four nicknames- Meg, MM, M&M, and Flower – according to her now-deactivated blog post, The Tig. She said her mother called her flower, hence the name, ‘Lili’.

Queen Elizabeth was reportedly introduced to her 11th great-grandchild via video call, according to People. The couple stepped away from their senior royal roles last year. Since then the couple has settled in California and run their foundation called Archewell.

Baby girl Sussex is 8th in line to the throne, behind her big brother, Archie. Her grandfather, Prince Charles is first in line; following her uncle Prince William and her cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and finally her father, Prince Harry. There is a good chance Lilibet may never see the throne but she is already RoyalTee in our eyes!
