Malia Obama is making moves! The 22-year-old former first daughter has reportedly joined Donald Glover’s newest TV project. She will be working in the writers’ room for a series that is “rumored to revolve around a Beyoncé-like figure,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Glover, who has earned high praise for his show, “Atlanta,” signed an eight-figure contract with Amazon. He is set to executive produce multiple projects for their Prime Video streaming platform. Not many details have been released about this new deal yet, but people are already excited about Malia Obama’s involvement.
The series she will be working on is reportedly titled “Hive.” It is created by Janine Nabers who is known for her work on the hit HBO series “Watchmen.”
We don’t know much about Malia and Sasha Obama’s day-to-day lives since they left the White House. Malia was only 10 years old when she was thrust into the national spotlight after her father became the nation’s first Black president in 2008.
She is currently attending Harvard University and is set to complete her fourth year in spring 2021. The new Amazon project will be her first major gig after graduating. It isn’t her first time dipping her toe into the world of entertainment, though. Obama interned for HBO’s “Girls” when she was 17 and later worked as a production assistant on the CBS series “Extant” starring Halle Berry.
After watching her grow up in the public eye, we are so proud of Malia and her new career ventures! She is sure to bring a unique perspective and skillset to the “Hive” writers’ room. We can’t wait to see what this #RoyalWoman has in store for us!
Keep your eyes peeled for more information about the exciting new series!
