Let’s not forget to say her same…
Last night, Royal Woman actress Regina King picked up an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Television Movie for her lead role in HBO’s “Watchmen.”
She used the moment to bring awareness to the killing of Breonna Taylor. The actress wore a t-shirt depicting the 26-year-old who was killed by Louisville Metro Police Department on March 13. King reminded virtual Emmy viewers that the officers responsible, Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove, have still not been held accountable for her death.
“She (Breonna Taylor) represents decades, just hundreds of years of violence against Black bodies, Breonna Taylor does and the show (“Watchmen”),” she told Associated Press Entertainment during a virtual backstage Emmys interview Sunday night.
“Wearing Breonna’s likeness, representing her and her family, the stories that we were exploring, that we were presenting, that we were holding a mirror up to and watching, it felt appropriate to represent with Breonna Taylor.”
