After Beyonce took our rent money and most of our income tax for her and Jay-Z’s On the Run Tour, Queen Bee is set to collect the rest of our pockets.
This week, Beyonce debuted the latest apparel in her spring collection honoring another famous queen, Nefertiti. She was considered one of the most powerful women in ancient Egypt and ruled during the civilization’s New Kingdom. Nefertiti was the wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten and the stepmother of the famous boy Pharaoh Tutankhamen, also known as King Tut. A bust of the ancient Queen was discovered in 1913, depicting her strong regal features and cinnamon brown skin. Her beauty and legacy has fascinated historians and admirers like Queen Bee for centuries.
In her latest collection, Beyonce channels Nefertiti on a long-sleeved orange shirt, black hoodie and crop top, wearing the Queen’s iconic headrest. Prices of the merchandise ranges between $35-$60.
This isn’t the first time Beyonce has channeled African culture. Her pregnancy photo last year, channeling the Yoruba fertility goddess Oshun, was one of the most liked Instagram posts in 2017.
