Rihanna is encouraging girls to work, work, work, work, work for a higher education.

The Grammy-award winning singer has started a global scholarship program through her Clara Lionel Foundation. The scholarship awards money to both international and U.S. students.

Requirements for eligibility include:

  • Applicants must be residents from Barbados, Brazil, Cuba, Haiti, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica or the U.S.
  • Must be accepted in a four-year accredited bachelor’s program at a U.S college or university (you will need a copy of your acceptance letter)
  • Must be a college freshman (12 credits or less, unless those credits were gained in high school)

The scholarships range between $5,000 and $50,000. Recipients who are hosen have the opportunity to renew their award for up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned as long as a minimum 2.5 GPA is maintained each semester.
