Gymnasts Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles are serving all kinds of #blackgirlmagic for Teen Vogue magazine’s August double cover issue. The young women have already made history, starting with Gabby,20, who led her team to victory in the 2012 London Olympics at the age of 16 and became the first African-American woman to strike All-Around Gold. Also, most recently, she awed us by winning the AT&T American Cup in March. Simone Biles, 19, is the first woman in nearly 40 years to win four consecutive U.S. women’s gymnastics championships.
In the interview, the ladies dish on everything from body image, overcoming odds and self-esteem to bullies and getting ready for Rio. Forever the perfectionist, Douglas tells Teen Vogue she’s determined to make history again by becoming the first gymnast to defend her all-around gold since 1968. Biles will be making her first trip to the Olympics, but we’re hoping it’s not her last. But who are we kidding? We’re rooting for both of them!
