Miami rap duo, City Girls, premiered their documentary on YouTube Thursday. Point Blank Period tells the story of close friends Yung Miami (Caresha Brownlee) and JT (Jatavia Johnson) from their own words. The girls talk about their upbringing in Opa-locka, their break into the music industry with Quality Control and Capitol Records, their collaboration with Drake and JT’s approaching federal prison date.
They also discuss how they came up with their group’s name. It was given to them by Kevin “Coack K” Lee, the COO of Quality Control.
“We from the city of Miami, everybody wanna b**ch from the city ,” Brownlee recalled the story.
She also shares her connection with JT. The two grew up together in Opa-Locka.
“Growing up she went though a lot, ” Brownlee reflected. ” We got history together, like my friends is literally my family.”
Their music is unfiltered, raw and unapologetically South Florida. Hist include ,” Take Your Man”, “Period” and “Where The Bag At”.
