Beyoncé made history tonight at the 65th Grammy Awards and has officially broken the record for most Grammy wins by any artist, with 32 wins.  She won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic album for her monumental Renaissance.

“I’m trying not to be too emotional and I’m trying to just receive this night,” she said, during her acceptance speech after breaking the record. “I want to thank God for protecting me. … I’d like to thank my uncle Johnny, who’s not here, but he’s here in spirit.” She went on to thank her parents, husband, and three children before concluding, “I’d like to thank the queer community for your love and for inventing this genre.”

Earlier that evening she picked up best R&B song for “Cuff It” presented by EGOT winner Viola Davis;  Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Break My Soul” and the Best Traditional R&B performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa.”

Beyoncé was nominated for nine Grammys,  including a record of the year for “Break My Soul.” Throughout her career, Bey has racked up 88 Grammy nominations.

Her song “Cuff It” lost best R&B performance during the preshow to “Hrs and Hrs” by Muni Long; and “Be Alive,” from the Will Smith film King Richard, lost best song written for visual media to “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto. Before Beyoncé, late classical artist Georg Solti held the record for the most Grammy wins ever by an artist.

She lost album of the year and record of the year, but still a big night for the Bey.

Beyoncé shared her excitement and gratitude on her Instagram.

“We won 3 y’all,” she wrote. “To my Hive, thank y’all so much for all of your love and loyalty! Big thank you for the BREAK MY SOUL and CUFF IT wins!!! To The Dream, Tricky, HOV, and Big Freedia. I love y’all!” She went on to think other people who were influential in making her Renaissance project a reality.

“Nova Wav, Morten Ristorp, Raphael Saadiq, and Nile Rodgers, thank you for pouring into CUFF IT. Big thanks to Sabrina Claudio, Nick Green and Patrick Paige II,” she added. “PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA is my favorite song on RENAISSANCE most days. It’s hard to pick though. Haaa.” She ended the caption writing, ” It feels great to be honored for the vocal performance. Thank you to all the talented vocalists who killed those beautiful TikTok renditions! I feel very grateful and filled with joy!”
