The funeral arrangements for Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan have been released by his family. The “Flex” rapper, whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, will be laid to rest on Tuesday, Sept. 17th at the World Changers International Church in College Park, Ga. Services start at 11 a.m.
On Sunday, Sept. 15th, there will be a balloon release at McNair High School in Atlanta at 6 p.m. The following day, there will be a viewing of the body at Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church from 2 p.m.- 8 p.m. in Atlanta.
Rich Homie Quan died on Sept. 5th at the age of 34. The cause of his death has not yet been released but multiple reports speculate it was a drug overdose. This report has not been confirmed.
“While he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit lives on. Quan’s legacy will forever be cemented as a soundtrack to our lives. And for this, we are grateful,” Quan’s family said in a statement to PEOPLE.
His father and manager, Corey Lamar told WSBTV that his son was putting together a studio album when he died.
“We had just completed a 20- or 25-song project and we were in the process of scheduling two video shoots off our project,” said Lamar. He was also scheduled to perform two shows in Miami on Sept. 7th and 8th.
“He was a trendsetter,” said Lamar. “I used to tell him that it’s a difference in making songs and making hits; he made hits and I know that his music will live on forever.”
Born on Oct. 4, 1989, Lamar shot onto the music scene in 2012. His debut album, Rich as in Spirit, was released in March 2018. He’s best known for his hits such as “Type of Way”, “Lifestyle” with Young Thug and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).” He was also a father of five.
