On Oct. 1, Walt Disney World Resort and Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida celebrated 50 Central Florida students selected as Disney Dreamers in the next chapter of Disney Dreamers Academy.

The students are part of an inaugural class of 200 Dreamers selected through participating Boys & Girls Clubs in the Orlando, Miami, Atlanta and Houston metropolitan areas. These areas were selected because of Disney’s existing presence and relationships with families and community organizations in those markets.

“This next chapter is about meeting students where they are and helping them discover what’s possible for their future at an earlier age,” said Tajiana Ancora-Brown, Director of External Affairs at Walt Disney World. “By working alongside local Boys & Girls Clubs, we can reach more students and provide meaningful experiences that support their growth over time.”

Beginning in January 2027, the students will participate in a multi-year experience focused on mentorship, career exploration, leadership development and exposure to new opportunities in their local communities and at Walt Disney World Resort.

The expansion marks a significant evolution for Disney Dreamers Academy as the youth development program approaches its 20th anniversary.

For years, Disney Dreamers Academy has brought 100 high school students from across the country to Walt Disney World annually for an immersive experience designed to encourage them to pursue their goals and explore career possibilities.

The new model will expand that reach through a year-round experience for middle school students, allowing Disney to begin working with young people at an earlier stage in their development.

“I’ve seen firsthand the confidence, connections and opportunities Disney Dreamers Academy has provided students over the past 19 years,” said Sivonne Davis, Vice President of Marketing Strategy at Walt Disney World. “The impact this program has had on young people, their families and the communities around them is remarkable, and this builds on the foundation to inspire students to explore their potential and dream beyond what they imagined possible.”

Bringing Opportunity Into the Community

Through a combination of virtual and in-person programming, Dreamers will participate in workshops and hands-on experiences led by Disney Cast Members and other professionals. Students will explore fields ranging from engineering to animal sciences while learning about careers they may not have previously considered.

Mentorship will also play a central role. Dreamers will have opportunities to build relationships with Disney Cast Members, professionals, fellow students and community members who can provide encouragement and guidance throughout the program.

The experience will also focus on building confidence and leadership skills while helping students create stronger connections with their peers and communities.

Students will also participate in programming at their local Boys & Girls Clubs as well as experiences at Walt Disney World Resort.

Walt Disney World will also make an investment across participating Boys & Girls Clubs during the first two years of the initiative, covering the current school year and the 2027-28 school year.
