On October 4 the Seattle Seahawks beat the 49ers 28-21. That win was a big deal for quarterback Russell Wilson, who made history by becoming the first fastest and Black quarterback to win 100 games. The player did it four games into his 10th season. Adam Schefter announced on Twitter that Wilson made it to the top of the list.
‘Just getting started’
“Seahawks’ QB Russell Wilson won his 100th NFL game today and did it faster than any player in league history ever has,” said Schefter. Other names on the list included Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Jim Kelly, Matt Ryan, and more.
Wilson shined during his win against the 49ers. The Seahawks captain went 16-for-23 for 149 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also had a score added on the ground and obtained a QBR of 66.9. Wilson was ecstatic after his 100th win. He shared his excitement in a video posted on social media.
“I think that’s my 100th regular-season win, what a blessing man,” the 32-year-old said in a Twitter video. “Man, gotta keep going. Just getting started, I’m excited about the next hundred. There’s more championships. There’s more things we want to do.”

Wilson’s title Breaks Color Barriers
Wilson’s achievements put a smile on former AFL player Marlin Briscoe’s face.
In 1968, Briscoe was the first Black quarterback to start in an AFL game. He played for the Denver Broncos. Just as Wilson, Briscoe made history that year.
“It just seemed poetic justice so to speak, that the color barrier be broken that year at that position,” Briscoe told the Associated Press.
Last season the NFL broke more color barriers. 10 Black quarterbacks started in week one. During the Seahawks and 49ers nine of the starters on the field were black.
“When I came in the NFL there weren’t that many starting Black quarterbacks in the NFL,” said Wilson in an interview.
When Wilson is not making gridiron history, he’s dominating as a husband, father, and philanthropist. He and his wife Ciara just co-authored a children’s book together and are co-founders of the non-profit, the Why Not You Foundation.
The couple are parents to Sienna, 4, Win, 1, and Future, 7, whom Ciara shares with her ex, rapper Future.
