Ladies, just because you are in a new relationship does not mean put your girls on the back burner.
I am speaking from personal experience here. There’s nothing like being wrapped up in that new puppy love stage. It has the rest of the world disappearing, doesn’t it? But let’s not forget about the people who were in the picture before boo came into the picture.
Having a solid group of girlfriends is so important. One word: sisterhood. It’s an indescribable circle of trust, love, and support established. And we shouldn’t lose that just because we have a man in our lives.
How do I keep my friends close even though I am in a relationship?
I know you want to spend as much time with your significant other as possible, but space is essential in a healthy, relationship. After all, your man has his friends too. Scheduling weekly or monthly meetups always helped me. My friends and I would go out for dinner every Wednesday or Thursday depending on what we had going on that week.
But when you go out with your girls, it doesn’t have to be boring…
Who doesn’t love a good happy hour? But even those can get boring if you go all the time. Use the time spent with your girls to get creative. Take a painting class, pole dancing classes can be fun. Hit up a spa or go to a gun range– you never know, you may find a new hobby and learn something about yourself.
Game nights are always a big hit and it’s also inexpensive. Uno, spades, Taboo and Charades are games that can test the most solid relationships. #PlayWithCaution And don’t forget about Karaoke! Music and drinks can add spice to any kind of night.
Finally, don’t just assume that because something hasn’t happened to you that you are immune to it…
The most important thing to remember when planning a girls’ night is safety. With so many dangers lurking in the shadows, it’s imperative to stay alert. Never go anywhere off by yourself, especially at night. Carpool or walk or drive each other to your car.
Let your girls know when you get home, let your man know when you leave. Each time I leave home, even if it’s to the grocery store, I let someone know where I’m going, when I get there and when I have returned home. It’s just about covering your bases. Maturity has taught me that if your significant asks for this information, they’re not trying to be controlling. People just want to make sure you’re good
Now since we covered the basics, call your girls up! Have some fun sis!
