On her website, the Grammy award-winning superstar penned an open letter to her fans about the album. She shared her ‘three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic.’ She also penned a touching dedication to the greatest inspirations behind her album- her husband, Jay-Z and their kids, Blue Ivy, 10, and twins, Sir and Rumi, 5.
“A time to be still, but also a time I found out to be the most creative. Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and find escape during a scary time for the world,” she shared of her fresh-faced, snuggling with her kids in bed. “I want to give a special thank you to Rumi, Sir and Blue for allowing me the space, creativity, and inspiration,” she added. “And a special thanks to my husband and muse, who held me down during those late nights in the studio.”
Beyoncé also dedicates the album to her gay uncle, who she called her ‘godmother’ and credits as the ‘first person to expose’ her to a ‘lot of the music and culture that served as inspiration for this album.’

Last month, the GLAAD Vanguard Award singer released the single “Break My Soul” with Big Freedia, which got fans hyped for the album.
“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world,” she wrote on her Instagram on June 30, when she premiered the album’s visual. “It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
