Finally, a win in the fashion industry for diversity!
Tommy Hilfiger and Zendaya dazzled audiences with melanin magic at their Paris Fashion Show. The show featured an all-black cast, including legends such as Beverly Johnson, 66, the first African-American model to cover American Vogue; Pat Cleveland, 68, the world’s first black supermodel; and Veronica Webb, 54, the first African-American woman to have a major cosmetics contract.
But the grand finale was definitely ageless Strangé, Grace Jones. The 70-year-old strutted down the runway in a glitter bodysuit to her 1981 jam, “Pull Up to the Bumper.”
At the end of the show, the entire cast marched down the runway to Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family” in matching Tommy Hilfiger fitted, t-shirts.

Several VIP, front row guests got their life and culture that night, including Tyra Banks.
“You see my face. I am in Paris. Watching so many fierce black women from all generations of modeling represent our beauty during the #TommyNow show,” Banks tweeted. “I am so proud of Mizz Designer @Zendaya!”

Last October, Hilfiger choose Zendaya as the new global women’s ambassador and collaborator for his Spring 2019 TommyNow collection, dubbed Tommy x Zendaya. He gave the 22-year-old complete, creativity control over the show, which she modeled after the iconic Battle of Versailles fashion show in 1973.
“I’m still in shock and so emotional and moved by this show,” the 22-year-old tweeted. “I’m speechless. Thank you a million times @TommyHilfiger.”
