The activist, poet and punk star Kyla Phillips started Foxie Cosmetics in 2015. The 28-year-old, who has had a vegan ethical mindset since 14, sells vegan and cruelty-free bath, skincare and hair care products. Her bath bombs and melts are made to soothe body aches. Exfoliators, facial oils and moisturizers promote healthy skin and hair growth. To date, Phillips has whipped up more than 100 different products that she sells online. When Phillips is not working on Foxie, she is on the road with her band “Bleeding the Pigs”.

Tatiana Price knew that in a world where there are thousands of different beauty products telling people what will work for them things can become confusing. This is why her line, Skin BUTTR, uses shea butter as its main ingredient and doesn’t have wide range of products. Skin BUTTR includes skin scrubs, skin butters and has a five-step skin kit for the face that includes a cleanser, exfoliator, toner, mask, and moisturizer. Currently, her products are online only.

Created by bad gal Rihanna in 2017, Fenty Beauty came with the revolutionary 50 foundation shades range, which set a new industry standard in the diversity of foundation shades. The makeup industry, which previously didn’t cater well to darker skin tones, now had to widen their shade range to keep up with Rihanna. On the Fenty Beauty website there is a shade finder quiz that allows ladies to find the perfect shade for their melanin. The 2019 holiday collection is now available.

ABC’s Shark Tank turned down Melissa Butler’s idea of vegan, cruelty-free makeup products in 2015, calling it “colorful cockroaches”. True story. The experience taught her an important lesson about persistence. Today her product The Lip Bar is available in at least 450 Target stores across the country.
