Charlamagne Tha God’s Tha God’s Honest Truth has been renewed for a second season on Comedy Central.
The new season will premiere this summer. Tha God’s Honest Truth premiered last September. Show creator and host, Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard McKelvey, wanted to create a series that spoke to a young, diverse audience. The series includes one-on-one, intimate conversations with the best-known names in entertainment, politics, comedy, publishing, and more.
“We are building a cultural institution with ‘Tha God’s Honest Truth’ a destination for those who are unafraid to take on social issues with honest conversations meant to challenge, educate, and by the looks of the comments on IMDB infuriate,” the Breakfast Club Host said in a press release.
“It’s not easy getting a season two of a TV Show nowadays so I don’t take this blessing for granted at all!!”
Charlamagne went on to praise his TGHT team including his executive producers Stephen Colbert and Aaron McGruder, as well as MTV Entertainment Studios.
“I THANK GOD FOR IT ALL!!,” he exclaimed.
According to Colbert, who previously hosted The Colbert Report, you won’t find a more authentic show than TGHT.
“There is no one on television like Charlamagne,” said Colbert in the press release. “I’m excited to see what Truths Tha God gets Honest about in Season 2 of TGHT!”
Nina L. Diaz, president of Content and Chief Creative Officer, MTV Entertainment Group and Head of Unscripted Entertainment and Adult Animation for Paramount+, added, “Charlamagne is shaking up the late-night landscape with his no-holds-barred approach to telling it like it is, and its struck a chord with audiences.
Last season’s guests included Vice President Kamala Harris, Ed Sheeran, Kevin Hart, Meagan Good, Chlöe Bailey and Soulja Boy. We can’t wait to see the surprises that season two holds.
