Following a successful first season, The Mysterious Benedict Society has returned with a new season streaming now on Disney+. For our Sherlock Holmes, riddle, and mystery lovers, it’s a good one to indulge in and add to your list.

What is The Benedict Society about?

Based on a book series by Trenton Lee Stewart, the story focuses on the eccentric Mr. Benedict, played by Tony Hale, who recruited four gifted orphans; Reynie, Kate( Emmy Deoliveira), Sticky (Seth Carr), and Constance to infiltrate his twin brother’s school, Dr. L.D. Curtain ( also played by Hale) to bring him down and put a stop to “The Emergency”.

When the kids find out that Mr. Benedict and Number Two ( played by Kristan Schaal) have been kidnapped by his twin brother Dr. Curtin, they must use their wits to find him, which also involves land, sea, air, and a pie truck.

The Mysterious Benedict Society also stars MaameYaa Boafo as Rhonda Kazembe, Ryan Hurst as Milligan, and Gia Sandhu as Ms. Perumal.

The two-episode season premiere aired on Oct. 26, followed by new weekly episodes on Wednesday.

RoyalTee Magazine sat down with a few of its cast members about their time filming the new season and their characters.

RoyalTee: How do you resonate with your characters?

Gia: What I find the most appealing about Ms. Perumal is that she has such an abundance of love to give to children. She’s truly a believer in education, but also an education beyond schooling; an education about love and about kindness and about wanting to foster a sense of confidence in children.

MaameYaa: I love that Rhonda is a devotee.  She is devoted to the cause. She played an integral part and recruiting the kids. She’s dedicated to putting things back in order. And is a family person, the society is her family. And along the way she learns things about herself, so she’s also teachable and I love that.

Emmy: I definitely relate to [Kate] a lot. I think she’s really similar to me. And she’s really independent. She’s kind of stubborn. She doesn’t like asking for help. She likes to do things her way. Get it done on our own.

RoyalTee: What did you enjoy the most about returning to the set?

Seth: Getting to work with some of our friends, to be honest, is cool.

It makes it all the better. You’re working with people that could make you laugh.

RoyalTee: What do you hope will resonate with fans when they watch the series?

Emmy: The new relationships that formed the season, the new dynamics that come from characters from last season interacting with characters from this season. There are so many funny lines and there are so many nice moments between all these characters. I think people are gonna really like that.
