The Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) confirmed last week Deshayla E. Harris, a former Bad Girls Club star, as one of two fatally-wounded victims in the Virginia Beach shootings.
On Mar. 26, VBPD reported three separate shooting incidents in the city’s resort area just before midnight. The department reported eight injuries and no fatalities at the first incident; one fatality at the second shooting, that being 28-year-old Harris; and one officer-involved shooting at the third incident, which fatally wounded 25-year-old Donovan Lynch.
Although the incidents are still under investigation, police believe that Harris was an innocent bystander.
How Harris’ Friends And Family Are Mourning Her Death
Harris appeared on Bad Girls Club in 2017 during its final season. During her time on the show, she gained popularity with fans and fellow cast members alike. She was also dubbed as the “firecracker fashionista.”
After police reports identified her as one of the shooting victims, her friends from Bad Girls Club and the show itself took to social media to give their condolences.
On Twitter, Bad Girls Club’s official account wrote, “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Deshayla’s family and loved ones.”

Kiyanna Monae, Bad Girls Club alum and Harris’ former roommate, wrote on Instagram, “My heart is shaking right now. You didn’t deserve this at all. I can’t believe that this is even true Shay. Please God take her in your arms and hold her tight.”

In addition to being a star on the Oxygen channel show, Harris also served as a hairstylist at Da Notty Roots, a hair salon chain in Virginia specializing in natural hair styles. The company shared its thoughts on Harris via Instagram.
“Heaven gain a sweet ? last night. WE LOVE You #danottyroots,” the company captioned a picture of Harris shortly after her death.

Since the incidents, Virginia Beach police have charged and arrested three men for their involvement with the first shooting. Details about the second shooting, which involved Harris, have yet to be released; however, her friends, family and fans have started to promote the hashtag #justicefordeshaylaharris on social media to shed light on the ongoing case.
