The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air starring Will Smith, first premiered on TV on Sep.10, 1990, and ran until May 20th, 1996. The sitcom was about a young man transitioning from his rough neighborhood in Philadelphia to living with his rich aunt and uncle.

Fast forward 23 years. The talented Morgan Cooper’s viral 2019 mock trailer turned into the new show, Bel-Air. The one-hour drama series has the names of the original characters with a modern-day twist. Will Smith is the executive producer of the show. It has already been picked up for a season 2 on Peacock. Smith is also working the role of director, co-writer, and producer. Bel-Air is keeping an all-black cast just like the original. 

Alfonso Ribeiro, claims that the new Fresh Prince will be a creative spin on the concept of the show. During an exclusive interview with E! News Sylvester, Riberio describes the new series as a “re-imaging” of the original Fresh Prince.

“I like to call it a re-imaging,” he said before explaining that this upcoming series will be a whole new look.

Fans new and old have shared their thoughts on social media about the new show. “I don’t care what y’all say, i’m excited for this new “Bel-Air” show. During an interview with Variety, Smith says “People are going to be shocked”, “I just cant wait for people to see it”. To watch the show viewers would have to subscribe to the Peacock app. Available on all streaming devices February 13th, 2022.
