UPDATE:

A rep for Kelly Price reportedly told TMZ that the Grammy-nominated singer is not missing and is safe recovering from COVID at an undisclosed location.

The update comes within hours after news broke that Cobb County officials issued a missing person report on her after performing a welfare check last week.  An active investigation was opened into her disappearance. Since this update, Cobb county police have not confirmed if her missing person case is closed. . According to TMZ, her attorney has reached out to law enforcement to notify them of her whereabouts. 

On Friday, the National Crime Information Center had listed Price as missing in Georgia. 

According to TMZ,  who was the first to report the story, Price went missing shortly after being discharged from the hospital after battling COVID-19. The “As We Lay” singer was diagnosed with COVID-19 back in July. She posted a video of her diagnosis on her Instagram. A week later, Price was moved to ICU where her symptoms worsened. 

TMZ reported that her family was in touch with the 48-year-old in early August and was visited by her children. But three weeks later, they received a call that she had been discharged, despite not being fully recovered. A welfare check took place at her home on Sept. 18. Her family also told TMZ Price’s boyfriend has not cooperated with them or the police and has kept her loved ones away from her home. 

 No evidence of foul play is expected but an active investigation is underway according to TMZ.

On social media, fans are questioning why news of her disappearance is being made public a month after her disappearance. 

“How has Thee Kelly Price been missing for more than a month and the news is just now coming out,”  The Bad Feminist author, Roxane Gay tweeted. 

Another person tweeted, “Y’all have 24 hours to find Kelly Price deadass.”

Price is best known for her 1998 album, Soul of a Woman, which produced hits such as “Secret Love,” “You Complete Me” and “Friend of Mine.”  Later in life, she moved on to gospel and produced hits such as “Grace” and “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.”
