A break up is defined as the ending of a relationship. Whether it’s the end of a friendship or a relationship, it can hurt in ways that it will feel like it could last forever. Studies have even shown that breakups activate the same region of the brain that experiences physical pain.
No one wants to lose a person they care about, but sometimes it’s for the best. With time, we realize that some of the people we let go, or those who let go of us did us a favor. Without them, we can experience growth and peace that wasn’t possible when they were in our lives. Sometimes, a break up can make a person stronger.
…some of the people we let go, or those who let go of us did us a favor.
Sometimes in a relationship ‘you’ becomes ‘we’ and once it’s over, you may have forgotten who you are by yourself. Now that it’s over, you can find out how you are when you are alone. You can just focus on yourself and your individual happiness. Get back in touch with how you are and get to know the current you. Rediscover your likes and dislikes, try the things you always wanted to, reinvent your style, work on being a better you for yourself to enjoy and those who may come along that may have that privilege.
You find your independence again after a breakup. The things you rely on them for, you now have to rely on yourself. Which can be a breath of fresh air. You only have to worry about yourself, what makes you happy, and how you are going to enjoy life. You no longer have to miss out on opportunities that required considering another’s feelings. You can be happy again, even when you’re single.

You can have more of the life you want after a breakup. No more being considerate. No more holding back. No more couple’s activities. Just you and whatever brings you joy. You can just be yourself with you and your friends. No more need to impress someone besides yourself.
Pick up new hobbies, try a class you’ve never taken, go somewhere you’ve never been to. Enjoy the single life!
