Reruns of The Jamie Foxx Show and In Living Color are nice, but Jamie Foxx is finally giving us something new! After over 20 years away, the comedian legend is returning to sitcom with a new Netflix series called Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!  

Foxx dropped the trailer for his new show on his Instagram page on March 18. The show premieres on Netflix on April 14. 

Inspired by real-life embarrassment 

The name is appropriate since the series will be inspired by his embarrassing moments with his daughter. Well, she will call the moments embarrassing.  The series is inspired by Foxx’s relationship with his daughter Corrinne Foxx.

“It’s a sitcom, and it’s my dad’s return to TV comedy,” Corrinne, 27, told Entertainment Tonight in a December 2020 interview. “We’ve obviously done a lot of things in the public eye together but we also have this private life that people don’t really know; they don’t know all these embarrassing stories.” 

Foxx, 27, who is also the executive producer of the show added that she had the opportunity to cast herself, which she said was “pretty cool.” 

The University of California graduate also starred in Disney’s Safety and 2019’s 47 Meters Down.

What will ‘Dad, Stop Embarrassing Me’ be about?

The 53-year old will portray bachelor Brian Dixon, the owner of a successful cosmetic company. But circumstances change when he unexpectedly becomes a full-time dad to his teenage daughter, Sasha, played by Nickelodeon actress, Kyla-Drew. 

Former In Living Color co-star David Alan Grier will come on as Foxx’s father and MTV’s Wild ‘n’ Out Porscha Coleman will play his sister. Foxx is also reuniting with Bentley Kyle Evans whom he worked with on The Jamie Foxx Show. Black-ish’s Ken Whittingham will direct the first season. 

But the Django star may be most proud of his daughter. He praised his daughter in a recent Instagram post. 

“The producer! Soooo proud of u,” he posted. 

This is the first time the father-daughter pair have worked together. The two were hosts on the second season of Beat Shazam in 2018.
