Vice President Harris was sworn in by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor,  who is HERstory herself as the first Latina justice on the high court.

The historical moment was not lost on spectators such as White House correspondent, Yamiche Alcindor who tweeted, “What a moment for our country and for women of color in particular. The first Latina Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor, administers the oath of office to Vice President Kamala Harris, the first Black, South Asian, and woman to hold this office.”

The hashtag #RepresentationMatters was sealed and confirmed as millions of Black women and girls watched someone- who looked like them- take the second-highest office in the world.

A Black woman is the Vice-President of the United States,” one woman tweeted. These tears are real and my hope for America is even more so. #KamalaHarris

The moment was also not lost on the Asian community.
