Congratulations to our favorite royal couple, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced over the weekend that they are expecting their second child together.

“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” a spokesperson for the couple told People.

A Royal-Coaster Year For The Royal Couple

The good news follows a stressful year for the couple, Markle especially. Last November, the former TV personality shared a candid op-ed with The New York Times, where she shared that she had suffered a miscarriage.

“I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,” Markle wrote.

Following her miscarriage, Markle and Prince Harry announced their controversial decision to step down from their senior royals roles. The transition was due in part to the royal family’s reception of their relationship and the media’s careless treatment of the pair.

Just a few days before announcing baby No. 2, Markle officially won her lawsuit against the British tabloid Mail On Sunday. The tabloid published parts of a letter Markle wrote to her estranged father, therefore invading her privacy.

“For these outlets, it’s a game,” she said in a statement. “For me and so many others, it’s real life, real relationships, and very real sadness. The damage they have done and continue to do runs deep.”

Much Needed Blessings

The couple did not disclose when the baby is due; however, they released a black-and-white photo of them happily sitting under a tree. If Markle’s baby bump is any hint, fans and loyal followers of the couple can expect to see pictures of the family of four very soon.

And as Markle pointed out in her opinion article, life always finds ways to bless us after the worst has happened.

“Are we OK?” she wrote. “We will be.”
