Each month Netflix adds new movies and shows and May is no different.
On Wednesday, May 6, Netflix will premiere Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” documentary that will depict who she is and becoming. In a tweet Mrs. Obama posted on April 27, she genuinely hopes that her film with Netflix will be a joy and an inspiration for anyone who is watching.
I’m excited to share that on May 6, @Netflix will release BECOMING, a documentary directed by Nadia Hallgren that shares the stories of the amazing people I met after the release of my memoir. During this difficult time, I hope you’ll find some inspiration and joy in this film. pic.twitter.com/fqsIbhXYeL

Produced by the Obamas’ production company Higher Ground Production and directed by Nadia Hallgren, the documentary will share an intimate look into Michelle Obama’s life and dreams. It follows her as she embarks on the book tour for her similarly titled 2018 memoir, Becoming, which became a #1 New York Times bestseller, an Oprah’s Book Club Pick, and winner for the NAACP Image Award.
As viewers of the upcoming documentary, we will see how the “Forever First Lady” became who she was, is, and could be as she moves forward in life with poise, grace, and purpose. It’s a hope that this documentary will invigorate self-awareness in others as they experience their own growth journeys in becoming who they are meant to be.
