After enduring pregnancy loss, feeling dismissed by medical providers, and undergoing an unplanned C-section that she believes could have been prevented had her concerns been taken seriously, Empress Torisaun walked away carrying more than a newborn. She carried trauma, unanswered questions, and a determination that no other mother should feel invisible during one of the most vulnerable moments of her life.
Today, the Indiana-based maternal and perinatal health educator has transformed that pain into purpose. The self-proclaimed Sou’las Womb Weaver, Torisaun offers holistic birth education, postpartum care, womb healing, and maternal advocacy. As a perinatal health educator and caregiver, she helps women reconnect with their intuition, understand their birth stories, and confidently advocate for themselves throughout pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

Her story comes at a time when the nation continues to confront the alarming disparities facing Black mothers. Viral stories of Black women being dismissed during labor have reignited conversations about racial bias in healthcare and the urgent need for respectful, patient-centered maternal care.
