If you find yourself singing the “Circle of Life” while cleaning your house on Saturday mornings and long for getaways where you can let your inner 90s kid out, then you may want to save your coins for Disney’s newest cruise ship.
The Disney Treasure will be setting sail in 2024 and will pay homage to a few of our childhood favorites from “The Lion King” to Pixar. It’s a treat that encompasses all of our dusty VHSs, comforters, and cups ( you remember the glass ones McDonald’s used to have back in the day).
Not to mention some recent titles such as Moana. We can’t be the only ones who sing “I Am Moana” at the top of our lungs in the car.
“The Disney Treasure will bring brand-new stories to life, blending one-of-a-kind experiences with the extraordinary entertainment, world-class dining, and unparalleled hospitality that make every sailing so memorable,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line, in a press release shared with RoyalTee. “As we chart a course for adventure, we’re so excited for families to discover the excitement and exploration that awaits onboard the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.”
The maiden voyage takes place on Dec. 21, 2024, from Port Canaveral for a 7-night cruise to the eastern and western Caribbean.
Last year, RoyalTee had the exclusive opportunity to sail abroad the Disney Wish, the sister ship to the Treasure, and we were singing “Let It Go” just as loudly as the kids at dinner. But let’s make it clear The Lion King is still the greatest Disney movie ever, there’s no argument about that. There’s also the Aquamouse but we will get that in a few.
With that being said, cruising the Disney Treasure actually may be a trip that you can enjoy just as much as the little ones. Trust us on this.
Here’s why:
The Grand Hall Is Inspired by Aladdin and The Lion King, both movies we loved (and still do)
This may be the closest to Agrabah we can get. The grand hall of the Disney treasure is Aladdin-theme and will be the ship’s most prominent gathering place. In other words, if you see us having a Jasmine moment- don’t mind us.
Sarabi, named after the Lion King matriarch, will be a two-story gathering spot that will evoke the “natural beauty and openness of the savanna.” And if there’s an opportunity to reenact Rafiki presenting Simba, we will take advantage and you will see it on TikTok and Instagram.
There will also be Broadway-style theater, showing “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure,” plus movies from Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and more.
There will be a Moana-theme show
This month, Disney Cruise Line announced “Disney The Tale of Moana,” a Broadway show that will show exclusively on the Treasure.
” The massive, fiery Te K? will be a puppet of a scale Disney Cruise Line has never before produced. When Moana meets Te K? and restores the heart of Te Fiti, the giant Te K? puppet will shed its fiery shell and become the gentle island goddess, Te Fiti herself,” Disney Cruise Line announced in a press release. “Moana and Maui will perform the song “Warrior Face” for the first time in the stage show when the demigod teaches Moana how to face her fears before entering the Realm of the Monsters to face Tamatoa.”
The new song will be among classics from the 2016 movie including “We Know The Way” and “How Far I’ll Go.”
No word on whether Dwayne Johnson will be coming on board to sing “You’re Welcome.”
Chill space for adults
We did say adults can have just as much fun on Disney cruises. The Quiet Cove is an adults-only lounge that includes an infinity pool, poolside bar, and cafe. There’s also the Periscope Pub, inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, and the Skipper Society, inspired by the Jungle Cruise attraction.
“These adult-only experiences will offer elevated interpretations of Disney adventures and Disney Parks attractions, with sophisticated theming ranging from subtle inspiration to full immersion, allowing guests to customize their vacation according to their interests,” Disney shared in a press release with RoyalTee.
More adult pastimes on board will include a spa and an upscale steakhouse and lounge inspired by Beauty and the Beast.
Aquamouse and Coco
But in the end, Disney is all about family fun, which is where the AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg. Inspired by the Indiana Jones saga, jets propel a two-person tube vehicle through 760 feet of winding tubes as you follow Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on a misadventure into an ancient temple, which ends in a pool.
Plus there’s the Marvel Super Hero Academy, it’s for the kids but this sounds fun for us too. It’s where you can be the next generation of Avengers under the leadership of Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Ant-Man.
for the Foodies, the Treasure will have plenty of treats to indulge in. Starting with the ship’s Plaza de Coco. It will be the first theatrical dining experience themed to the Disney and Pixar 2017 film Coco, featuring a mariachi and modern twist on traditional Mexican cuisine. For Marvel lovers, there will be a Marvel-themed dining experience and Jumbeaux’s Sweets, an ice cream parlor inspired by Disney’s Zootopia.
How soon can you book?
Bookings for the Disney Treasure opened to Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club members last September. The cruise is bound to sail out. The early cruises of the Wish were sold out for up to a year.
If you’re able to secure a spot, you and the family will stay in one of the 1,256 staterooms and 4,000 passengers the ship will carry. Concierge-level staterooms come with a private sun deck. But for those looking for a little more luxury, there are four royal suites, each one inspired by a Disney feline companion. Royal suite designs include Bagheera Royal Suites, honoring the noble panther from The Jungle Book and the lush
forests he calls home, and the Rajah Royal Suites, themed to Princess Jasmine’s protective tiger who dwells in the royal palace of Agrabah in Aladdin.
