The life of Aaliyah Haughton, the late R&B singer, will be revisited in an hour-long special, Superstar: Aaliyah. The special airs on June 14 on ABC at  10 p.m. EST.

What will Superstar: Aaliyah be about?

The ABC special will take a look at the late singer’s life and the legacy she left behind from her musical influence to her fashion.

“From the moment I stepped foot on stage, I was like, ‘This is what I want to do. I have to do this – I’m happy doing this,” the late singer’s voice could be heard at the beginning of the trailer.

It will include interviews from Damon Dash, her former boyfriend and music executive; her uncle and CEO/founder of Blackground Records, Barry Hankerson, and recording engineer and producer Jimmy Douglass, who worked with Aaliyah in the studio. Other interviews include artists such as Justine Skye, Sevyn Streeter, and will.i.am.

The special will also touch on more controversial subjects of her life such as her alleged involvement with singer R. Kelly when she was a teenager.

“The program sheds light on the circumstances of her underage marriage to R. Kelly, who has since been convicted as a sex offender, and shows how Aaliyah’s relevance continues as a new generation experiences her music decades later,” ABC said in a statement.
