The story of Disney’s first Black princess is stepping into our communities. Princess Tiana will soon be the centerpiece of a brand-new immersive museum exhibition. Walt Disney Imagineers is partnering with The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on a museum experience called “Tiana’s Joyful Celebration,” an interactive experience that invites families to walk in the magic of Tiana’s world.

The news was announced at the 2025 Essence Festival of Culture. The exhibition will debut at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on March 7, 2026. From there it will travel to 12 cities on a nationwide tour.

In this experience, Tiana is throwing a parade for her community. Guests will be invited to help her and her friends, critters included, pull together the finishing touches when an unexpected twist pushes the celebration to start earlier than planned.

“In this magical adventure, Princess Tiana is celebrating her community by throwing a parade,” Disney shared on their Disney Parks blog. “Tiana’s friends, critters included, have been working hard in Tiana’s childhood neighborhood to prepare for the big day. But when the day arrives, they learn that their timeslot begins earlier than anticipated and need the entire community and critter friends to put the finishing touches on the floats to make it in time.”

Like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction, guests would be immersed in the vibrant New Orleans Mardi Gras culture with the music, decorations and crafts.

While the full list of cities on the tour has yet to be revealed, one thing is for sure, Princess Tiana’s unwavering spirit continues to inspires us, over a decade later since she made her debut in the 2009 feature film The Princess and the Frog.

begins March 7, 2026.
