Our girls are holding us down a little longer! Tyler Perry’s Sistas has been renewed for a fourth season.
“We love you all so much!!! We are creating something really special S4,” actress KJ Smith shared on her Instagram. Smith plays the character Andi on the show. The cast includes Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, Crystal Renee’ Hayslett, DeVale Ellis, Chido Nwokocha, Anthony Dalton II, Brian Jordan Jr., Kevin A. Walton, and Trinity Whiteside.
The drama series is about a group of four single Black women in their 30s navigating the complexities of love, career, friendship, and family in Atlanta. The series debuted in 2019 with high ratings that led the series into a second season. The show’s success continued to grow from there.
Season two became the highest-rated scripted series on cable for African Americans. And seasons three ratings made the TV series the top-rated show for African American women worldwide.
Perry started writing the new season back in August, according to his Twitter.

Ignoring the critics
“Writing season 4 of Sistas,” he tweeted on Aug. 25. “New meaning of working remotely!” The billionaire mogul and owner of Tyler Perry Studios is the sole writer for all of his movies and shows. Last year, he responded to critics who slammed him for his writing.
“When I hear that kind of stuff, I’m thinking, ‘Are y’all looking at the ratings? Do you understand that the audience is in love with this?’” he told Variety. “Because if you’re complaining about my writing, you’re not the audience. My audience loves the way that it’s done and the way the stories are told. And from the beginning, it’s always been about being true to them.”
Although he ignores most of the criticism, he tries to find constructiveness in them all.
Perry told Variety, ” I never see a lot of it, but if it does get to me, I look for truth in it. There’s a lot of it that’s just vitriolic; that’s just ‘I’m going to hate on him because he’s Tyler Perry.’ I get that. But when there’s truth in the criticism, like, ‘Why did he do this, this and this?’ I go, ‘Hmm, let me think about that.’”
Season 4 will have 22 episodes and is set to be released in 2022
The Tyler Perry Show: The Sistas After-Show will air on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 10 PM ET/PT on BET and BET Her.
