It’s been 18 years since we lost Aaliyah Haughton, affectionately known as “Baby Girl”. If you’re 25 or older, everyone remembers the moment when they heard the news. For me, I was in 6th grade at the bus stop. That following Friday, I dedicated my solo performance in my chorus class to her, singing, “More Than A Woman.”

Aaliyah continues to live on in our memory; from the timeless music she left behind to her iconic style that defined an entire generation and most recently, her MAC collection. Now the famous Madame Tussauds intends to carry on the late singer’s legacy by honoring her as their newest edition to their Las Vegas museum.

The announcement was made earlier this month on the official Aaliyah Instagram page.

A contest was posted with the hashtag, #ShowUsYourAaliyah, to give 10 fans the opportunity to attend the VIP unveiling of the wax figure on August 22th.

Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas on August 25, 2001. She was 22-years-old.
