We are rooting for everything Chloe Bailey.  Her tearful response to the critics is unfortunately the story of every Black woman. Especially when it comes to expressing our sexuality and body positivity.  The one half of the sister duo Chloe X Halle, released a heartful statement after the hateful backlash, she received for her recent so-called “provocative” videos on social media.

The backlash resulted after the 22-year-old posted herself doing trendy TikTok challenges such as the “Buss it” and “Silhouette” challenge. However, her tearful response follows her most recent video of herself cleansing her room with sage in her undergarments.

“I’m finally at that place where I have self-confidence”

Some people complained that her videos were too revealing and proactive. Others accused Chloe of seeking attention.

During her 20-minute, IG live session, Chloe addressed the negative comments.

“I’ve been insecure for a long time and I’m finally at that place where I have self-confidence […] For every woman out there, don’t change who you are to make society feel comfortable,” she said in her video. “I’m telling myself that’s not what I’m going to do. Even when I posted the video yesterday… I didn’t really notice you all were talking about my a** because I was like, ‘OK, I’m just walking in for one seconds, two seconds’… and just being myself.”

“I don’t post what I post to get attention, I don’t need that… I’ve learned I don’t need outside attention, so you all seeing what I’m posting is just me being me. I just hope you can see who I am, that’s it.”

I’m Tired Of Black Women Having To Defend Themselves

Aren’t yall tired? Because I sure am. As a Black woman, it is exhausting being told to calm down or that we’re doing the most when we are literally just existing in our womanhood. Is it offensive to you that we enjoy the body we have or the skin we’re in? Do you hate the fact that we are comfortable with ourselves and embrace our Blackness?

It is a shame that Chloe had to do what she did. It is incredibly rewarding that Chloe came into her own woman at such a young age. Many can not say this. Throughout this whole situation, Chloe tearfully stood her ground and did not apologize once!

I admire that and implore other women to do the very same. We as Black women can learn from young Chloe. She is brave enough to have fun! She loves herself enough to freely explore her sexuality in ways that society deems “extra” or “provocative”.

I stand with you, Chloe! Please continue to keep it cute- and just do it! Do you!  Keep loving herself sis and I hope all my Royal Women will do the same!
