Dinasty Brown is the CEO of Queendom Dinasty. And yes, Dinasty is her real name.
“People always ask me that,” she laughs. “A lot of people think it’s an entertainment name like I’m an exotic dancer, but my grandmother actually told my mom to name me Dynasty with an “I” from the soap opera show, ‘Dynasty’.”
Originally from Sarasota, Florida, the 21-year-old is a recent graduate of Florida State University. She started her entrepreneurial journey when she was just 18 years-old, selling beauty and haircare products to young women.
Under her ‘Queendom’, three years later, Browns reigns as a self-published author of a novel entitled, #GirlTalk. All of the stories stem from real-life college experiences.
“What really was my influence for writing #GirlTalk was all the girls I encountered in school that maybe had low self-esteem or dealt with dating in college and putting their standards down because guys didn’t raise to them,” says Brown. “In a way it hurt me and made me sad.”
#GirlTalk is about a young nursing student, striving to be successful while juggling the heartbreaks, challenges and stumbles life can bring us. Through the main character’s story, Brown hopes readers can learn how to better handle the roadblocks in their own lives.
“At the end of the chapter I never forget to mention the lesson learned and show the character growing,” she says.
And although, Brown didn’t want her book to sound too preachy or bossy she also wanted to make sure she got an important message across.
“I wanted to write a book that pushed women to uphold your standards and have respect for yourself.”
Brown is currently working on #GirlTalk 2 which she hopes to have out by this December or the beginning of 2017.
Dinasty is also the host and founder of Young Boss Boot Camp, an online webinar that teaches young girls how to start and maintain their own business ventures while working or attending school.
And when it comes to chasing your dreams why wait?
“You don’t need to wait,” Brown stresses. “You need to just go for it. A lot of people think they’re too young or they’re still in school and they’ll do it after school and I’m like no do it now.”
And when she’s not working on her Queendom, Brown is working in South Florida as a licensed real estate agent and acting as a business coach and mentor for other aspiring entrepreneurs. After all there’s plenty of success to go around.
“A lot of people get successful and they want to keep everything for themselves and I think that’s wack,” says Brown. “I’m just for girls working for themselves and making their own money.”
And of course we had to ask:
What makes a Royal Woman?
“A woman that doesn’t need justification or validation from anybody. You love yourself, you’re confident in yourself and in a way, you’re delivered from people. What other people say, don’t bother you and don’t move you. You do what you want to do and what’s in your heart. And what makes you happy. And to me that’s a Royal Woman.”
