For National Gumbo Day, Princess Tiana shared her recipe for her famous gumbo. Disney Parks shared the recipe from Tiana’s Palace, a quick-service restaurant in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park.
In a video shared by Disney Parks, Chef Toby Hollis, a featured chef at Tiana’s Palace and Disneyland Operations Manager Lindell Skinner, discussed the Crescent City staple and tips on how to perfect the famous New Orleans dish at home.

Stella Chase, the owner of the famous Dooky Chase’s in New Orleans, was one of the inspirations for Princess Tiana and shared what gumbo meant for her family.
“So gumbo is a dish that has a little bit of this and a little bit of that and as my father would say, brings everyone together,” Chase says. “Everyone loves gumbo, because gumbo is a dish where everyone can be creative.”
Princess Tiana is Disney’s Black princess. Actress Anika Noni Rose immortalized the role in the 2009 movie.
Tiana’s Palace is just the beginning of the Princess and the Frog magic. The attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in 2024 at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park. The series, Tiana, also inspired by the movie, will be a Disney+.
