Disney has brought the taste of New Orleans to the West Coast. Tiana’s Palace is now open at Disneyland. Earlier this year,  Disney announced its plan to transform the French Market Restaurant at Disneyland Park into Tiana’s Palace. The fictional eatery is inspired by Princess Tiana’s dream restaurant in the 2009 movie, The Princess and The Frog.

“Inspired by Tiana’s friends and adventures, the quick-service restaurant’s menu will offer authentic New Orleans flavors – expanding on current favorites in the location and exploring seasonal flavors,” Disney released in a press release statement on Disney Parks Blog. “While Tiana’s Palace is not a character dining location, guests may find Tiana in New Orleans Square.

And what’s a NOLA-inspired restaurant with the city’s staple- gumbo!

The restaurant itself has the French Quarter wrought-iron balconies and elegant fixtures, just like in the movie. The design is inspired by the original French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square. Also open is a retail shop, Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets named after Tiana’s mother.

The revamp is part of Disney’s plans for their new attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The attraction will replace Splash Mountain and open in 2024 at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It will continue the story after the movie in which Tiana is the owner of Tiana’s Place and Tiana’s Food, an abandoned salt mine that she turned into a food processing company.

“It is really exciting to know that Princess Tiana’s presence in both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom will finally be fully realized,” said Anika Noni Rose, who voices Tiana in the movie.  “As passionate as I am about what we created, I know the fans are going to be over the moon,” Noni says. “The Imagineers are giving us ‘The Princess and the Frog’ Mardi Gras celebration we’ve been waiting for, and I’m here for it!”
