Issa wife! There was nothing insecure about Issa Rae’s latest move. Rae has officially tied the knot with longtime beau and businessman, Louis Diame, in a beautiful intimate ceremony in the south of France.
Rae, 36, went public with the nuptial news on her Instagram on Monday. The 10 photos shared by Rae featured her in a Vera Wang wedding dress, surrounded by her bridesmaids. Diame donned a red Dolce & Gabbana velvet tux. She jokingly called it an “impromptu photoshoot” and she took flicks with “somebody’s husband.”
“My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress,” she captioned the pictures. “They were sooooo embarrassed. Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband.”
Vera Wang congratulated the newlyweds on her official Instagram account. ” You look ethereal! Wishing you and Louis continued happiness and joy in your new life together,” she wrote.

Issa’s relationship: N.O.Y.B.
The Insecure star has successfully kept her relationship very private. Outside of a few red carpet snapshots, no one fully knew the couple’s status. And that’s just the way Rae liked it. There were rumors that she had gotten engaged in 2019, but Rae brushed off the chat during an interview with The View saying, “I got a lot of rings on my fingers. I wear jewelry, you know.”
In a 2020 cover story with The Hollywood Reporter, she explained why she kept her relationship private.
“I guess because it’s private. Whose business is it? I realized I just don’t like to be the subject of conversations if it doesn’t have to do with my work,” Rae said.
She added. “I’ve always been like that, where I’d be dating someone and my friends would find out six months later. Like, ‘B****h, what the fuck? Why don’t we know this?’ So it’s just always been that I want to vet situations for myself. I really value that part of my life a lot.”
In other words, it was respectfully none of our business and we can appreciate that. Even her current away email message is unbothered, according to entertainment writer, Rebecca Carroll.
Carroll tweeted, “Issa Rae’s out of office email message says “I am unavailable, unreachable and uninterested for the next two weeks” and I love it.”
And so do we. Congratulations to the happy couple.
When Issa gets back to work, it’ll be on the fifth and final season of Insecure. She’s also executive producing A Black Lady Sketch Show and prepping her newest show Rap Sh*t, for HBO Max. Rae is also voicing Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew, in the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel.
