Pretty proud to hear this news! The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is returning for a season 2 on Disney+ and like the first season, expect to see all kinds of special new guests and revelations. A new trailer has already revealed some nuggets like Suga Mama’s new sleep apnea mask and a Disney Princess party.

And per the Proud tradition, expect the series to continue to highlight the Black experience, including interracial dating, self-worth, activism, and Juneteenth. The series also recently won Outstanding Casting for An Animated Program at the inaugural Children’s & Family Emmy Awards.

“Season two we get to come back again and surprise people all over,” said Ralph Farquhar, Louder and Prouder executive producer. “It’s gonna be funny, relevant.”

Below is everything we know so far about the new season.

The original cast returns

What’s the Proud Family without the whole family? The original cast will return to the series:  Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud; Tommy Davidson and Paula Jai Parker as her parents Oscar and Trudy Proud; JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama and Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby. Also returning will be Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer; Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez; Carlos Mencia as Felix Boulevardez; Maria Canals-Barrera as Sunset Boulevardez; Alvaro Gutierrez as Papi; Raquel Lee Bolleau as Nubia Gross; and Marcus T. Paulk as Myron.

Emmy and Grammy winners and Olympians among special guests

Like season one, there will be plenty of new characters and special guests. Among them are Hamilton star Leslie Jordan, Grammy-award-winning artist Chance the Rapper, black-ish star Anthony Anderson, actress Holly Robinson, Euphoria’s Storm Reid, 61st Street star and Emmy-winning actor Courtney B. Vance, and American Horror Story actress Liana Mendoza. Iconic Olympic gymnasts  Gabby Douglas and Laurie Hernandez are also part of the lineup, as well as legend Dominique Dawes.

Normani is another guest star. ” I loved The Proud Gamily growing up,” she told Disney+.  “When I found out there was going to be a reboot I just wanted to be a part of it in some shape or form.”

The “Motivation” crooner will be debuting original songs including “You’re Lucky I Let You Love Me,” which was co-written by Kurt Farquhar, the original composer of Destiny Child’s theme song rendition of the show. As a matter of fact, music from The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder can be heard here. Gabrielle Union who guest-starred in the first season is also returning.

And get this- we’ll also see Maury Povich, yes from the Maury show- as himself! This leads us to wonder if there are any paternity teasers in this season?  Guess we will just have to find out!

When will The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder season 2 premiere?

Season 2 of  The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 1 on Disney+. Season one is also available on Disney+, and beginning in January 2023, episodes will air weekly on Disney Channel and Disney XD.
