Shemar Moore is about to be a father. On an upcoming episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 52-year-old actor reveals he’s expecting a child with his girlfriend Jesiree Dizon. The baby’s expected due date will fall on the same day Moore’s mother passed away three years ago.
“It’ll be a three-year anniversary on Feb. 8,” the Criminal Minds star told Hudson in the preview clip, referring to his mother, Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 76. He added, ” And on Feb.8, I’m going to make one of her dreams come true because, in real life, Shemar Moore is about to be a daddy.”
“That is news,” Hudson exclaims. “And your mama gonna be so proud smiling at you from heaven.”
Although he’s excited about fatherhood, Moore admits he was unsure it will ever happen.
“I was worried for a while that maybe that ship had sailed kind of thing,” he told Hudson, “and, you know, God had my back and things lined up…My life is pretty grand but I know once God does call my name, once I get this experience, I’ll be able to go to heaven whole.”

Moore and Dizon are expecting a baby girl. On Monday, he shared a video on his Instagram of their gender reveal party.
“Today is the day, ya boy got butterflies,” he says in the video. “Today is a special day, a legendary day. Today ya boy, Shemar Franklin Moore is about to find out if he is going to be a daddy to a little girl or to a little boy, a little homie.”
He went on to praise his late mom, ” Mama I did it! Mama’s in heaven, I miss her so much. I wish she was here, but she’s smiling, she’s so proud. I wanted to make this happen while you were here but you’re still a part of all of this.”

Moore shared that a potential name for his daughter could be Frankie, in honor of his middle name Franklin. The new baby will be Dizon’s third child. She shares her daughter, Charli with ex and actor Stephen Bishop and her son, Kaiden Kawika Napahi, from a previous relationship.
