Let’s face it: most people watch the Super Bowl for the performances. And with this year’s star-studded lineup of R&B’s most extraordinary talents, viewers will definitely not be disappointed. On Tuesday, the NFL announced the performance lineup for Super Bowl LV.
Songstress Jasmine Sullivan and country singer Eric Church would join together to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Grammy-nominated singer H.E.R. will sing her rendition of “America the Beautiful” right before kickoff.
The announcement follows the release of Sullivan’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, “Heaux Tales,” which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart. H.E.R. is featured on the album’s well-known track, “Girl Like Me.”
Sullivan didn’t shy away from expressing to her fans how excited she was after the news broke.
“The Super Bowl wasn’t even a tangible goal for me, so I never even dreamed it!!”
She wrote on her Instagram story. “Oh but God He will pour out a blessing for u, that u have not room enough to receive you. SMH I’ll shout RT now. Grateful is all I can say.”
H.E.R. also took to Instagram and Twitter to respond to the announcement, writing “Make sure to tune in!”

The Weekend will headline the Pepsi Super Bowl LV halftime show.
As for The Weeknd’s performance, there are still many unknowns; however, if his latest album “After Hours” is any indication, he will be embracing all things 80’s on the Pepsi Halftime stage.
In the music video for “Blinding Lights,” recently named Billboard Hot 100’s Song of the Year, he sported an outfit reminiscent of Michael Jackson as he rode around an empty cityscape with ‘blinding lights’ everywhere.
Pepsi’s promotional video also hints at “Blinding Lights” being the highlight of the singer’s performance.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will make history as the first Super Bowl team to play on their home field when they faceoff against the Kansas City Chiefs on Super Bowl LV, Sunday, Feb. 7, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
