Last month, I attended my cousins’ baby shower, who are expecting boy and girl twins , praise the ancestors! And while opening their gifts, instead of the typical applauding and aweing, we crossed our arms over our chests and moved our should up and down in celebration. All for fun, of course, but the demonstration exemplifies a bigger picture.

“Black Panther” is the superhero black people have been waiting for and its most iconic salute is fast becoming our new symbol of black power, unity and excellence. The hashtag #wakandaforever has over 470K posts on Instagrams and its still a trending topic on Twitter and Facebook feeds.
