Janet Jackson will receive the rock star award at the 2018 Black Girls Rock awards. She will be honored with as a “phenomenal woman in music.
Black Girls Rock broke the news on their Twitter on Monday. Queen Latifah will host the show this Sunday at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. BET will air the ceremony on Sept. 9.

The awards show is all about celebrating accomplishments of women of color, which Jackson has plenty of! The 52 year-old superstar and mother recently released her first single in three years titled “Made For Now”, featuring Daddy Yankee.

Last week she made an appearance at the 44th annual Harlem Week, where she was honored by the MTA and Harlem Chamber of Commerce.
