Zendaya brings us the first black “Mary-Jane” in new Spiderman

Zendaya Coleman is joining the Marvel Comic family. The 19-year-old actress has accepted the role for the upcoming movie, “Spiderman: Homecoming”.  She will play Peter Parker’s love interest, Mary-Jane. The movie will take place in their teenage years.

And it isn’t just a major acting upgrade for her, Zendaya is also making #blackgirlmagic by becoming the first African-American woman to star in the Spiderman series. Kirsten Dunst played the redhead for the first three films.

Of course, racists and haters chimed in with their two cents. But there were just as much praises as well.

Coleman was on our list as one of the Royal Woman to look out for in 2016. And so far, she’s not disappointing us! Recently she launched her very own shoe line called Daya by Zendaya.

“Spiderman: Homecoming” comes out July 7, 2017.
